Leapin' Lizards & Jumpin' Progs

With Leap Day fast approaching, it’s a perfect time to talk about Jumps and Drills – two ways to navigate PowerShift to find all kinds of information with minimal keyboard input.

You’ll find the Jump button on many screens. Jumps enable you to go from one program to another without reentering key fields (like item, order or customer number). Clicking Jump lists programs that can be run for the record you’re viewing. From the list, just double-click (or highlight & click Select) an app to run it.

Here’s a snip of the buttons in Sales Order Line Inquiry (OIQ). If you mouseover (i.e., hover the mouse over) a button of interest, you get a hint (called a tooltip) about what clicking the button will do. Like jumps, drills take you to more information about the current record. But rather than being accessed from Jump, they have their own buttons.

Have suggestion about a jump or drill you'd find useful? Tell us about it and you might see it in a future release!
